What is Pentecost?

Pentecost is the festival when Christians celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.  It is celebrated on the Sunday 50 days after Easter (the name comes from the Greek pentekoste, "fiftieth").

Celebrating Pentecost - Pentecost is a happy festival.  Ministers in church often wear robes with red in the design as a symbol of the flames in which the Holy Spirit came to earth.

Pentecost is regarded as the birthday of the Christian church, and the start of the church's mission to the world.

Trinity Sunday

Introduction to the Trinity -

The core belief - The doctrine of the Trinity is the Christian belief  that: There is ONE God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spriit.

The Trinity is a controversial doctrine; many Christians admit they don't understand it, while many more Christians don't understand it but think they do.

Trinity Sunday, which falls on the first Sunday after Pentecost, is one of the few feasts in the Christian calendar that celebrate a doctrine rather than an event.

Feast of Corpus et Sanguis Christi

Please join us today, Sunday 18th June, 11am at Saint Saviour's Church for the Solemn Pontifical Mass when we welcome all those who have been prepared for their First Holy Communion.

The Feast of Corpus Christi, or The Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (as it is often called today), goes back to the 13th century, but it celebrates something far older: the institution of the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the Last Supper.
